The Negev in the south of Israel belongs to a huge desert, which stretches from Egypt until Jordan and Saudi Arabia. In this rough region the Nabateans ruled for centuries over this most important passage-route of the spice-trade from Somalia and Arabia to Gaza at the Mediterranean Sea.
